In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ritik Ghanshani reveals he wants to be the Prem in Sooraj Barjatya’s Rajshri Productions.
Ritik Ghanshani on working with Rajshri Productions
Speaking about working with Sooraj Barjatya for Bada Naam Karenge, Ritik Ghanshani said, “Yeah, I mean who doesn’t want to be a Prem from Vivah or Maine Pyaar Kiya. I think almost all the young boys aspire to be one of the Rajshri characters right? And I get to be so of course it’s a very surreal, extremely beautiful experience and more for me it’s for my parents. As she (Ayesha) rightly said our parents have been watching these films, idealising them, following Sooraj sir’s work since so long.”
When asked if he could be called the Prem 2.0 of the OTT space, Ritik Ghanshani said, “You can, I won’t stop you. I don’t mind you calling me Ritik also, I don’t mind calling you Rishab also. I would liked to be called Rishab from Bada Naam Karenge. See, of course, Sooraj sir has his touch you know jo unko definition of pyaar hai, jo definition of family hai, as you said green flag. But this series is a lot more modernised version, it has the modern spices. It has contemporary values also which makes it more relatable. So I think aaj kal log mujhe Rishab Bol sakte hai.”
Ritik on working with Akshay Kumar in Sky Force
During the same interview, Ritik spoke about working with Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya in Sky Force. He said, “See it was very challenging because I was doing a project just before Sky Force. And for the role I had to put on 10 kgs within 20 days. Then as soon as Sky Force got over, I had 20 days to lose those 10 extra kgs. So it was challenging in that case. Otherwise, Akshay sir is a gem of a person, he is a lot of fun to be with. Main na bachpan se films dikhte aaraha hoon, toh chote shehar se jab aap aate ho tab aapko reheta hai Ki yeh bada star hai, mujhe aisa banna hai, mujhe inke saath kaam karna hai, jab unko woh aaye thi him as Wicked Sunny(Mujhse Shaadi Karoge), I used to walk like that.”
The actor added, “Jab main unse mila I was very nervous, very excited. And I also had to work with him, it wasn’t just meeting him hey, hi, photo khichaliya and all. I had to work with him also. I literally had to be an actor on set as well on the same set. Toh, he is absolutely chilled, he is the wicked Sunny. He was cracking jokes, making sure all of us were comfortable, it was a beautiful experience working with him and I hope people love Sky Force.”
Ritik on challenges as an actor
Talking about the challenges he faced as an actor, Ritik said, “It was definitely a smooth ride for most of us, all of us in fact. None of us could complain about anything of that sort from the production, or direction but when you have a long schedule of 80 days. There will be things that happen, you are an actor of course when you come in front of the camera. But you are an actor human right, there will be things that happen in your family, your relationships or whatever. “
He concluded, “And in your personal life, a lot happens which you will have to keep aside every time you come in front of the camera. Be it a happy scene, a joy scene, a sad scene or whatever it is, it doesn’t matter what mood you are in life you have to come to perform and deliver. So when you are shooting for such a long schedule, I did feel such a challenge because there were few things happening in my life then. And there were days when I had to come on set and be very happy and jolly because the scene was such. Those were difficult times.”
